Southwest Area Plan
Over the past year, Franklin County and the city of Columbus have been working on a land use plan for the Southwest Area. The planning process was initiated at the request of the Southwest Area Commission.
Planning area boundaries
Mound Street (north)
Harrisburg Pike railroad tracks (west)

We held a series of workshops to gather input and ideas from community members. We presented the draft plan to the community at a workshop on November 18, 2008 at Franklin Woods Intermediate School.
The final plan was approved by the following entities:
Southwest Area Commission - December 17, 2008
Franklin Township - December 23, 2008
Jackson Township - March 2, 2009
Columbus City Council - March 2, 2009
Franklin County Board of Commissioners - April 14, 2009
Planning Process Documents
During the planning process in 2008, we held four public workshops and received hundreds of comments. You can view the documents showing the results of the input we received.
